Sharon Himes pursues her passion for art and nature with drawings and paintings of wildflowers, forest birds, country scenes and seasonal subjects. An artist and illustrator since 1985, she creates pen and ink drawings and paintings of nature, country and historical subjects for displays, books and other publications. Her work has been used by The Nature Conservancy and other environmental, nature and historical groups.
Sharon Himes developed her own watercolor and acrylic glazing techniques to build layers of delicate color in her paintings. Her work has been featured in American Artist and other magazines. The book, Watercolor Artists Flower Handbook (Quarto 2006) by Patricia Seligman includes demonstrations and practical advice by thirteen leading floral artists including the chapter: ‘Experiencing nature through sketching’ by Sharon Himes showing her unique approach to painting wildflowers.
Original ‘Woodland Watercolor’ paintings are sold through several galleries and are widely collected. Himes lives on Maryland’s Eastern Shore with her husband Larry and Buffy the Cat.
