St. Augustine Chamber Music Festival Chamber Orchestra 2026
This event is in its twentieth year and I have recorded this series at the amazing Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine which was constructed from 1793–1797, and is also the site of the oldest Catholic parish in the U.S. dating from 1565. The Basilica has a wonderful acoustic and this event takes place over a six night period at the end of June for two weekends and is free to the public! Here is the last movement of one of Mozart's finest symphonies, Allegro assai from Symphony No. 40 in G minor at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine Florida. All photography for the series shown here was taken by me to help document the series.

BEETHOVEN Eyeglass Duo ALLEGRO
Performed this past April, this work is attributed to early Beethoven, and was left as an unfinished manuscript; two movements of what likely was intended to be a three- or four-movement work.
The "Eyeglasses Duo" (officially Duet with Two Obbligato Eyeglasses, WoO 32) got its famous nickname as an inside joke between friends. Beethoven wrote it around 1796 for himself (on viola) and his close friend and cellist, Baron Nikolaus Zmeskall. Because both men suffered from poor eyesight, the original manuscript was humorously subtitled "Mit zwei obligaten Augengläsern" (With two obbligato eyeglasses). Here the ALLEGRO movement is performed by Ritz Chamber Players Kervonna Shuford on viola and Khari Joyner on cello.
